Comic Salon Erlangen 2008

Sep 17, 2008 I Noteworthy I Written by Ying

This is something I want to make public beforel I leave germany, for my studies in Japan. Cause it’s a convention I will always remember :) This year I had the great chance so get to know some of the new generation of manhua artists from china, who exhibited their works at the international comic salon in Erlangen. These four days were really remarkable and full of joy. I learnd a lot from the chinese artists and about them, too. Never thought we could get so fast to know each other and having fun together. I’ve never met such young, talented and open-minded artists in my lifetime until then. Just talking to each other as we had know each other for a long time, like old Friends. Even so I was very surprised and glad to meet Mr. Wang, their general manager, who was a very open and humorfull person. For the arts please visit their very own Pages, cause it’s too much that I can describe in words. I will list them below under the very extraordinary Drawings they made for me at the convention. I will always keep those memories precious and the drawings as a treasure to me. And I’m very happy to know that Benjamin published his first works in Germany, orange and remember at Tokyo Pop, so I does for Pocket Chocolate who published Butterfly in the air at epsilon. I hope that I can read and see more from the works of the other Artists like Jidi, Zhu le Tao and of course Song Yang, the REDHEAD soon, too !!! Miss ya guys, hope we’ll meet again. Not to forget our little fairy Xia Da :D

Songyang I want to start with Song Yang. He is one of the funniest and most eccentric guy I’ve ever met. I love his humor, arts, kind of conversation and fashion style. And of course his hair color ;) I was always fascinated by one of the film poster for seven swords by tsui hark, until I found out that it was Song Yang who actually painted it. I’m still stunned by his talent, wishing him good luck with his new projects, especially Bad Girl and hoping I’ll meet him again, cause I missed his presentation in Erlangen. But I got a great cooperation picture with him and Ji Di, which will be worth a million in years to come. *lol* His official website www.zhajiang.com.

BenjaminThe colors of this picture by benjamin couldn’t be captured by my scanner at all :/ So it doesn’t look half so beautiful as it is in original. I think he portrait me, since I was doing cosplay on the day before :D I’m still flattered, that he drawed this for me. Cause I love his female characters in his mangas, they were all so beautiful, charming and strong as well ;) Me likey. I hope that he keeps up his great work and never gives up love. I know he’ll find the one, for sure! And of course I hope to see him again, cause I’ve missed his presentation, too! For more of this gifted manhua artist please visit his blog at sina.com

Ji-DiThis is from Ji Di the new star in china manhua arts. Her drawings just caughts me in her own spell and her stories are very romantic, remembers me of fairytales. I couldn’t resist and had to take a picture of her selfmade doll from her own manga-character. It was just, too cute. So young and full of talent, but yet modest and just adorable. While helping out at her presentation, I could see how she works and paints. It was very fascinating and interesting. I hope she’ll publish overseas, too. Cause I can’t wait to see more of her stories. Her private blog at blogcn.com.

ChocolateThis picture is from pocket chocolate, very funny name, but now I’m used to it and it’s easy to remember. He didn’t talk much, but he still has a lot of humor. He seems young to me, until I found out he was already married and older than I’ve thought. *lol* Maybe that’s why he was like a big brother watching over us, bunch of crazy kids gone wild in Erlangen. :D I love this picture he has drawn for me, so 可爱 <3 Since he has published in germany like benjamin. I hope I get to see all of his works soon. Wishing him and his family well-being. His official website www.pocketcg.com

Zhu-Le-TaoThis lovely piggies are from Zhu Le Tao. Since my zodiac is pig, her created mascot suits me well.^^ I love them, just adorable little pigs I want to squeeze them all the time. I wish there would be some merchandise of her pigpig, I would get it for sure :D She is like a big sister to Xia Da and was always trying to help and took care of our little fairy. I’m very glad, that I could help her out to get her presentation started at the comic salon. For more of her works visit www.summerzoo.com

Xia-DaHere is the last picture from Xia Da, the little fairy. She seemed to me just like a doll, petite and cute. I just want to take her home and dress her up :D Her drawings are like herself, graceful, adorable and seems to me like a far away dream. If I’ve the chance to meet her again, I would surely pick her up and take her home *lol*. Her own website at www.cmfu.com.

Last but not least I want to thank Jutta, Paul and Soline for the great chance and the wonderful days at Comic Salon Erlangen, which I will never forget. <3
